Who we help ?

HEADWAY SELNWK provides information, advice and support services for individuals and their families affected by Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), including Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

We are unable to help people who have a progressive illness or congenital brain injuries from birth.

The referred individual’s needs should relate to HEADWAY SELNWK’s areas of support – social rehabilitation for people with ABI, and respite for carers and families, to address social isolation.

At the time of the application, individuals referred to HEADWAY SELNWK must be at least 18 years of age. When requested though, we can offer advice on issues affecting younger people.

Users of HEADWAY SELNWK services must also be a resident of one of the Boroughs of Greater London or Kent County Council served by the charity. These are listed below:

   1. Greater London :

            - Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark.       

    2. Kent :

            - Boroughs of Dartford and Gravesham

Who can refer an individual with ABI ?

Anyone can make a referral to HEADWAY SELNWK. We consider self-referrals, as well as referrals from health and social care professionals, case managers, solicitors, family members and friends.

How to refer someone ?

Step 1 :

Obtain a copy of the HEADWAY SELNWK Referral Form, by clicking here. Or contact the HEADWAY SELNWK Referrals Team, by telephone, on 020 3058 1013, or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Step 2 :

Make a copy of the individual’s clinical report or discharge summary, from the patient’s hospital, neuropsychologist, therapist or GP, detailing their condition and clinical rehabilitation plan.

Step 3 :

Complete all parts of the Referral Form and return to the address given on the Referral Form, along with a copy of the supporting documents requested.

A member of the HEADWAY SELNWK Referrals Team will then contact you, to acknowledge receipt of the referral request and explain the process for assessing referrals.
