Job Role:

Headway SELNWK is a charity dedicated to the support, advocacy and awareness of the on-going needs of individuals who have experienced acquired brain injuries (ABI) in the South East London and North West Kent area.

We have exciting opportunities on our community support team where you will be working with our members on a 1:1 basis in their own homes and in the community to support independent living and engagement in social activities.  You will be responsible for supporting clients’ day-to-day activity plans, ensuring their well-being and community engagement.  You will monitor client goals and outcomes and liaise closely with the Community Manager, external agencies and rehabilitation services to support clients throughout their social rehabilitation to independent living.

We are looking for motivated and dynamic individuals who will support our clients to achieve their full potential and satisfaction in participating in society.  Whether you wish to pursue a career in the health or social care professions or have a genuine enthusiasm to support those on their road to independence from an ABI, we would like to hear from you.

The contracts are on a zero-hours basis which is ideal for flexible working, allowing you to take on as many or as few hours as your working week allows.  We aim to keep continuity with our members and their assigned keyworkers, so agreed hours are guaranteed for as long as the member is in service and as the timetable permits.

Previous experience of rehabilitation is not crucial as a full induction, on-going support, training and supervision will be provided to ensure the applicant acquires the requisite skills.  However a willingness to develop is essential.

  • To key-work for a defined caseload of adults with complex acquired brain injury using evidence based practice, rehabilitation processes and client-centred principles
  • Support clients’ day-to-day activity plan and ensure their well-being and community engagement
  • Work with the Community Manager to support and monitor client goals and outcomes
  • To accurately report on activities and progress via our Running Record system

  • Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or willingness to work towards this qualification
  • Commitment to promote the full social participation of individuals with disabilities
  • An understanding of Person Centred approaches
  • Ability to use initiative, learn quickly and work with different individuals
  • Strong communication, literacy and interpersonal skills
  • Full current driving licence
